Volunteering Update

As part of Move More Eat Well, Sport Birmingham and Bournville College are teaming up in an ambitious plan to engage the community of Longbridge and surroundings in a more healthy and active lifestyle.

Bournville College officially kick started the Move More Eat Well volunteering movement on Thursday 27th of April when 24 students learnt new skills and attended a dodgeball activators course. The students are now actively working in the local area with the aim of engaging young people to become more active.

The Bournville College volunteers will also be attending training as park activators in readiness to support the delivery of the Big Healthy Lunch at Cofton park on Sunday 9th of July, 11-3.

Forthcoming FREE workshops delivered by Sport Birmingham are:

Thursday 25th May, 6-8pm – Safeguarding young people

Tuesday 30th May, 6-8pm – Club experience for young people

Both workshops will be delivered at Sport Birmingham, Floor 11, Cobalt Square, 83-85 Hagley Road, Birmingham, B16 8QG.

During the summer holidays  we will also be launching new play-schemes in the area:

> Thelbridge Park, Thelbridge Road, Birmingham B31 4ND

> Woodlands Park, Woodlands Park Road, Birmingham B30 1HA

> St. Chads Park, Rubery, Birmingham B45

Keep an eye out on the Move More Eat Well website and social media (Facebook and Twitter) for further information.

As part of the project we are keen to work with community organisations, clubs and activity provisions and help you implement your plans if you would like some support or access free training or funding information.
